On Sunday, August 8, 2005, the Executive Board of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) selected Louisville, Kentucky, to be the host city for the International Conference on Assessment Administration, to be held in October of 2009.

This decision was made based on a presentation made by the Kentucky Chapter of IAAO with assistance from the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Galt House Hotel. The arguments posed by the other two finalists, Calgary and Kansas City, were excellent, but Louisville essentially prevailed in the intense competition due to its lower cost for attendees.
