Education
The Kentucky Chapter of IAAO considers education to be one of its core responsibilities. Property Tax Administration by its very nature is a decentralized business, with important activities occurring in each of 120 counties. Taxpayers expect consistency of treatment in all corners of the Commonwealth, and a strong education program is the key to meeting this expectation.
The validity of educational offerings is assured by the Property Tax Education Committee, an advisory group of PVAs, Deputies and state workers appointed jointly by the Kentucky PVA Association and the Kentucky Chapter of IAAO. This committee meets bimonthly and proposes changes in the curriculum whenever needed. More information on the Education Committee can be found under the "Committees" tab of this website's home page.
A two fold approach to providing quality education is provided. Kentucky Property Tax Courses offer the local perspective in a practical approach to property tax issues facing PVAs. IAAO Courses offer fundamentals and background for anyone in the assessment administration field. These courses compliment each other with a minimum of overlap.
Students are provided with several means of feedback regarding the education program. Comments to the Chapter President or Chair of the Education Committee are always welcome.
